Pagoda Dogwood
Cornus alternifolia,  Z5 - 25ft., (18 -25 handsorted seeds per reg. pkg.)
A small flowering tree having horizontally tiered branches, small pale yellow-white flowers, tiny blue black fruit. Good fall colour and interesting shape.
Giant Dogwood
Cornus controversa,  Z6 - 60ft., (18-25 handsorted seeds per reg. pkg.)
Tiered branches bearing masses of small white flowers. A large and impressive Dogwood.
May be hardy with judicial placement in Zone 5.
Cornelian Cherry Dogwood
Cornus mas,  Z6 - 20ft., (15 -18 or more large seeds per pkg.)
An early blooming small Dogwood bearing tiny yellow flowers. A year round ornamental with nice fall colour and edible 3/4 inch bright scarlet berries. May be hardy with judicial placement in Zone 5.
Red Flowering Dogwood

Tiered like other Dogwoods often with red, sometimes pink flowers-an eye catching specimen. Some seedlings will be white flowered which are also very beautiful. Judicial placement in Zone 5.
White Flowered Dogwood

Tiered branches and white flowers. Dogwoods are spectacular in and out of flower.
May be be hardy with judicial placement in Zone 5.
Kousa Dogwood
Cornus kousa  "Milky Way",   Z5 - 20+ft., (15-20 seeds per pkg.)
A beautiful small tree of horizontal tiered habit. Creamy white flowers appear in layers above the horizontal foliage. Fruits resembling raspberries in late summer. Parent is "Milky Way", a heavy flowering selected form.
Japanese Cornel Dogwood
Cornus officinalis,   Z6 - 24ft., (12 - 15 large seeds per pkg.)
Resembles Cornus mas but its exfoliating bark is more colourful with rich greys, browns and oranges.
Early spring flower display is impressive.
Bloodtwig Dogwood
Cornus sanguinea,   Z4 - 10ft., (20 seeds per reg. pkg.)
A small hardy dogwood, white flowers with dark red twigs in winter and reddish fall colour.
Red Osier Dogwood
Cornus sericea,  Z3 - 10ft.
Also known as Red-Twigged Dogwood. A fast growing bush/shrub sporting red or dark purple stems that stand out in winter. Very tolerant of poor conditions, provides cover and food for wildlife, good purple-red Fall colour, white flowers in early summer followed by small white fruit. The Red Osier shrub is fast growing and will form colonies through spreading root stolons.
American Filbert, (Hazelnut Tree)
Corylus americana,   Z5 - 12ft., (8-10 large seeds per reg. pkg.)
Seeds are an edible nut. Hazelnut is a large multi-stemmed shrub or tree. Good for naturalizing.
Native tree to eastern and central U.S.
Smoke Tree
Cotinus coggygria,  Z5 - 15ft.
A small tree producing feathery blooms resembling billowing clouds of smoke.

European Hawthorn
Crataegus monogyna ,  Z5 - 25ft.,  (12 large seeds per reg. pkg.)
Sometimes called a 'Single Seeded English Hawthorn', it  is larger, denser and more variable in form than the 'laevigata' English Hawthorn. An excellent choice for a Cottage Garden.
Washington Hawthorn
Crataegus phaenopyrum,   Z5 - 27ft.
Slightly larger then the European and English Hawthorn. White flowers plentifully borne in Spring followed by red to orange fruits which persist into winter.
Cockspur Hawthorn
Crataegus crus-gali,  Z4  - 30ft.
This small rounded flowering tree produces an ornamental fruit and can be used as an effective barrier due to its thorny nature. Its habit is quite dense with horizontal branches covered in 2-inch-long thorns.
White flowers with pink anthers. Shiny dark green leaves turning reddish purple or brownish purple in Fall.
Deep red 1/2-inch fruit. An American native and good Cottage Garden tree. Bonsai candidate too.
Arnold Hawthorn
Crataegus arnoldiana,  Z4 - 18ft.,
The Arnold Hawthorn is a dense and spiny low-branched tree with a horizontal and upright growth pattern showing zig-zag-type branch/twig growth. Broadly rounded at maturity with a 15-20 ft. width. Dark glossy green leaves with yellow Fall colour. White flowers produced in profusion followed by bright red fruits produced in late summer. The Arnold Hawthorn is a native tree to the Northeastern US and is one of the earliest hawthorns to provide a fruit display. The fruit is said to have a delicious flavour and can make an excellent dessert fruit when cooked and used in pies, preserves, etc. The fruit can also be dried for later use. Herbal folk medicine uses are also indicated. Useful as an ornamental planting or a barrier tree.
Japanese Red Cedar
Cryptomeria japonica,   Z5 - 90ft.
Graceful and stately with a conical form, reddish brown peeling bark with bluish green drooping foliage.
Bonsai candidate.
Italian Cypress
Cupressus sempervirens,  Z7 - 35ft.
Interesting narrow columnar form with dark green foliage. Spire like.
