Common Yew (Pyramid Yew)
Taxus baccata, Z5 - 50ft., 50 seeds.
Dark green shiny needles often used for hedges and topiary, red
berries, erect-upright.
Chinese Yew
Taxus chinensis, Z5 - 50ft., 50 seeds.
Good for hedging and privacy barriers. Similiar to the Pyramid Yew with
curved glossy green needles and scarlet berries.
Japanese Yew
Taxus cuspidata 'japonica', Z5 - 40ft., 40-50 seeds
Best of the Yews. Can get quite large as well as 15 to 20 ft. broad
unless kept sheared. Hardy, slow growing and usually a good thriver in
North America. Excellent for screen plantings, etc., Females will set
conical flower buds and set red fruit.
Oriental Arborvitae
Thuja orientalis, Z4 - 40ft., 50 seeds.
A dense conical conifer, dark green foliage-excellent for border
plantings, & hedge screens.
White Cedar (Eastern
Arborvitae)
Thuja occidentalis, Z4 -50ft., 80 seeds.
Branches extend to the ground on open grown trees, narrow, almost
columnar crown. Very slow growing and lives for ever.
American Linden (Basswood )

A tall & handsome 'plane tree' with heart shaped dark green leaves,
often multi-trunked, fragrant pale yellow to tan half-inch flowers.
Silver Linden
Tillia tomentosa, Z5 - 70ft., 50 seeds.
Similiar to the other Lindens but with silvery underleaf visible when
the wind blows; yellow white flowers in June. A favourite shade tree.
Bald Cypress
Taxodium distichum, Z4 - 65+ft., 45-50 seeds
Pyramidal conifer. Drought and salt tolerant and can take poor soils. A
native and often used as street tree.
Small sage green leaves spiral around stems. Russet colors in Fall.
Provides light shade.
